Once Again, St. Onge Battles Back
Shane St. Onge doesn’t like to be dramatic, but the truth is, he really could have died that summer day in 2010 when his truck ran off the road while logging and crashed into the forest. “That wreck could have been way worse,” the Glacier High School senior said. “It was just inches from being – I don’t want to say fatal – but way worse. I’m lucky.”

Romney is the Aggressor in Final Florida Debate
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An aggressive Mitt Romney repeatedly challenged Republican presidential rival Newt Gingrich in a fast-paced campaign debate Thursday night, ridiculing the former House speaker's call to build costly projects in key primary states and to colonize the moon. Just days before the primary election in Florida, a state with a large number of immigrants, Romney vehemently denied Gingrich's own accusation that he is anti-immigrant — more so than any other candidate. And, as charges flew back and forth, Gingrich rebutted any suggestion that he wasn't the man to rein in federal spending.

Going International
There was little doubt when record-setting post Brian Qvale completed his four-year University of Montana career as the top shot blocker in Big Sky Conference history, the Grizzlies would experience a huge void on both ends of the court. But hanging up his maroon and silver jersey a little over a year ago was by no means the end of Qvale’s time on the hardwood.

Health Care Reform Takes Shape
Almost two years after becoming law, health care reform remains embroiled with politics and cloaked with uncertainty, while the details of how the overhaul will materialize remain hazy. For states like Montana that have been resistant to the reform, the Obama administration has begun creating federal backstops that are scheduled to go into effect two years from now.

Illegal Prohibition on Free Speech
Last month, the Montana Supreme Court overturned an earlier victory for free speech rights won in Helena district court by American Tradition Partnership (ATP), Montana Shooting Sports Association, and Champion Painting, Inc. over government bureaucrats’ right to bar individuals and companies from airing political opinions under a non-profit or for-profit corporate umbrella. The ban on speech that Montana’s court temporarily restored was enacted before Prohibition, in response to this state’s embarrassing history of political corruption by state politicians and newspapermen who were bankrolled by the copper barons in a bygone era.
